Zn-Se-Te multilayers with submonolayer quantities of Te: Type-II quantum structures and isoelectronic centers
نویسندگان
چکیده
Detailed studies with spectral and time-resolved photoluminescence, photoluminescence excitation, and absorption spectroscopies show the formation of type-II quantum structures squantum dotsd in a Zn-Se-Te multilayer system with submonolayer quantities of Te. Moreover, it is shown that in addition to these quantum dots, Te isoelectronic centers are also present in the same material system and contribute to the photoluminescence emissions. This could be siginificant for the better understanding of the scaling laws between many-atom systems se.g., quantum dotsd and few-atom systems se.g., isoelectronic centersd.

Quantum structures in Zn–Se–Te system containing submonolayer quantities of Te
In this paper we show that a multilayer Zn-Se-Te system, grown by molecular beam epitaxy in such a way as to contain sub-monolayer quantities of Te (so-called delta-doped ZnSe:Te), exhibits optical properties consistent with the presence of quantum size centers. We present results of excitation intensity and temperature dependent cw photoluminescence (PL) as well as time-resolved PL measurement...
متن کاملTime resolved photoluminescence studies of Zn–Se–Te nanostructures with sub-monolayer quantities of Te grown by molecular beam epitaxy
We investigate triple-delta-doped ZnSe:Te samples grown with different Te/Zn flux ratios using timeresolved photoluminescence (TRPL). We show that the properties of the TRPL of both samples are consistent with the presence of quantum islands with a type-II band alignmrnt. Moreover, from the comparison of the PL, we show that higher Te/Zn flux ratio during the growth leads to the formation of la...
متن کاملPhotoluminescence and magneto-optical properties of multilayered type-II ZnTe/ZnSe quantum dots
Multilayered Zn–Se–Te structures grown by migration enhanced epitaxy are studied by temperatureand excitation-dependent photoluminescence (PL) as well as magneto-PL. The PL consists of two bands: a blue band, overlaid with band edge sharp lines, dominant at low temperatures and high excitation, and a green band, which appears at elevated temperature and low excitation. Upon varying excitation i...
متن کاملOptimization of growth conditions of type-II Zn(Cd)Te/ZnCdSe submonolayer quantum dot superlattices for intermediate band solar cells
Intermediate band solar cells (IBSCs) have been predicted to be significantly more efficient than the conventional solar cells, but have not been realized to their full potential due to the difficulties related to the fabrication of practical devices. The authors report here on growth and characterization of Zn(Cd)Te/ZnCdSe submonolayer quantum dot (QD) superlattices (SLs), grown by migration e...
